"For half a year since our portal started functioning we have had the opportunity to gain some practical experience of working with this system. I would like to say right away that we have never regretted out decision!"

Dmitry ValyanovBitrix Site Manger 7.0. What's new?
It is right time to start my blog. Why?
I need to share all my knowledge about Bitrix Site Manager.

The 7th version of Bitrix Site Manager is coming. And I think it is the greatest update since the first release of the system in year 2002.

So what is in the box? The main update that I was waiting for years is ability to edit all my site content directly on pages.

One click and you get your content in pop-up WYSIWYG editor with a lot of features.
Static pages, news, goods or articles almost all type of content can be edited or added directly from the current site page.

Adding of content element is also simple. News or goods can be added directly to News line or Goods catalog.

But what should I do if I want to create static page?

Let’s click the “Create a page” button in toolbar. You see the new wizard layer.
Follow its easy steps and … voila a page is added and a new menu item is active. Great!

As you see now we have four tabs in toolbar.

The first – Browse – is for browsing site, posting forum or blog messages etc.

The second – Content – is for managing content areas of the site. Site Editors will use this tab for everyday tasks: adding news, goods, managing pages etc.

The third tab – Design – helps developers to manage site component parameters, monitor their performance and modify component templates and styles.

And the last but not the least tab – Control Panel – is a door to Administrator’s backend.
All system features still on their places categorized by modules.

There is a nice round image in the left top corner. Let’s click it – it seems to be a button.

Ok. It looks like Windows Start button jumped from bottom corner of your screen.
And it works in the same manner but only for the site management tools.

In previous system versions toolbar contained a number of small buttons and very often I tried to recognize a button by tooltips. Hard work.

Now we have big buttons with titles. Easy to read, easy to click. Buttons have special areas with arrow sign. Click it to get drop-down list with the most popular site management actions.

Button set is different depending on active toolbar tab and user role.

I plan to introduce more great features here. So stay tuned.

All the new features can be already tested online at: http://demo.bitrixsoft.com/

Send me your thoughts and questions.
