But some of you may be wondering about how to transfer your existing web project to the Virtual Appliance. That is precisely what I will describe in this blog post.
So let’s start.
1. Download and install the on your server.
This is a free product as well and can be run on any Windows and Linux platforms.
2. Download and unpack the on your server.
3. Run the VMWare Player and open the appliance in it (specify the directory where you had unpacked our virtual image).
4. Perform the first three steps described in the .
5. You’ll see the following picture after the virtual server is launched in a web browser.
Choose the ‘Restore Project’ button.
6. The subsequent instructions will tell you how to make a backup copy of your existing project to be able to fully recover it in the virtual server.
7. Choose the ‘Download from remote server’ option.
Specify your site URL and backup archive name.
I move my local installation of Intranet Portal running on to the Virtual Appliance in this example.
Then we should wait till the backup copy of our site is loaded and unpacked to the virtual server.
8. To restore a DB, choose the ‘default values for Dedicated Server or Virtual Machine’ option.
After the procedure is completed, you will find yourself on a working version of your project.
In my case it is a corporate portal.
That is all. See you later.
