Comments made in various intranet objects show up in the live feed: forum topics, blog posts, wiki pages, files, and news – anywhere that comments are allowed. When a comment is added to an intranet object or element, the object itself goes to the top of the live feed.
It’s worth noting that comments made to objects through the live feed are added to the objects themselves. That is, after you make a comment in the live feed about a blog post, it can be found in the blog post’s page.
The time limit for saving messages in the live feed is set by the Days to Keep Update Log property in the Social Networking module.
The number of new messages in the live feed is displayed in the status bar at the top of standard intranet pages.
Setting what type of updates to display
Each intranet user can configure what updates to receive and in what way notifications of new events should be delivered. This is can be done in the Subscription section.
And there is an option to make adjustments directly from the live feed main page:
Filter panel
Using the filter, conveniently located on the right-hand side of the page, a user can choose event categories, authors, a range of dates, and choose to show hidden events. A hidden event is an event from a category which the user has chosen not to display.
Microblog
The “Add Microblog Post” option on the Live Feed page lets the user create a new message as a microblog post. The post will be visible in the live feed as well as the user’s microblog.
Microblogs posts can be entered from a user’s personal page without opening the live feed. Not only does each individual user have a microblog, but each workgroup does, as well.
