Backup and Cloud Storages

Backup and Cloud Storages

In a previous post, I talked about the introduction of cloud storage in Bitrix Site Manager and Bitrix Intranet. Update 11.5.2 of the Kernel module supports not only backup in the cloud for both products, but also includes data located in the cloud in this backup.

If you have one or more cloud storages, then the backup tool (Desktop>Settings>Tools>Backup) offers new options.

If we choose to one of the cloud storages as the location for the backup, then after creation of the backup locally and an integrity check, this backup will be transferred to the cloud step-by-step.

Data and files which are located in a cloud storage can be included in the backup, whether the backup is created locally or in the cloud (data is stored in the temporary folder /bitrix/backup/clouds/ at the moment of archiving and then is deleted after completion).

This feature facilitates migration of a Bitrix24 instance to the onsite version of the product. Furthermore, it is perfectly easy to backup one cloud storage in another by this method.

All archives are shown in a general list, and location is shown separately:

Any local archive can be sent to the cloud:

Recovering archives

Cloud archives are convenient in that they are accessible from anywhere, making migration to a new location server simple, without the need to transfer the archive itself.

So, we send the backup file to the cloud, then download the restore.php and follow the instructions in the yellow box:

Then copy the link into the buffer for transfer:

And use it in the second step of the restore.php script, to download and restore the archive:

Now, if the backup contains a reserve copy of the data from the cloud, these data can be save locally in the /upload/ folder and de-coupled from the cloud, or left as they are.

Register in the cloud while there is still room;)! It’s cheaper, and easier than it seems.
