The Classic Intranet interface was previously called Light.The Social Intranet interface is based on the interface used in , the cloud-based intranet service offered by Bitrix.
When configuring the product for the first time (or when you run the configuration wizard at a later time), you can choose which of these two design layouts you prefer. For the Classic interface, you can then choose the color scheme.
The Social Intranet differs substantially from the Classic one. In the very center, there is an Activity Stream where users can find out what has been going on recently in the intranet: new messages, comments, tasks, events, photos, and much more are visible at a glance. Another important difference is the Create button, a single point of access for initiating nearly any action in the intranet: starting tasks, creating calendar events, uploading files, inviting new users, etc. This button is present on every page.

The Social Intranet is available starting with version 11.5.0 of the product. In an existing installation of Bitrix Intranet, it can be activated by running the Configuration Wizard. Data in the portal will not be affected by running the Configuration Wizard. The previous product templates (Modern, Classic, Bright) are no longer available for new installs as of v11.5, and although they will continue to function (in the case of existing installs), they will no longer be updated.
