The company employs about 75,000 persons around the world, Hyundai vehicles are sold in 193 countries through some 6,000 dealerships and showrooms worldwide. Today, the company remains one of the world's largest automotive producers. As an automotive manufacturer with customers around the world, Hyundai Motor Company engages itself in environmental issues in recognition of its social, environmental and economic responsibility due to its global operations.
Hyundai Russia needed a system that would consolidate, organize and store data, to capitalize the potential of the company's knowledge base and provide a more efficient way to manage content and control workflows inside the company. The main reason Hyundai wanted to create a corporate portal for its employees was its desire to make internal communication more productive, consolidate all knowledge and experience, and automate business processes that sometimes include a large number of phases and steps before they are accomplished. To comply with this concept, the company was looking for the following functional solutions:
Bitrix Intranet Portal: Extranet Edition was chosen as a technological platform for developing Hyundai's corporate portal. It puts a secure transitional area for contact with the "outside world" at your command. Using the Extranet module the intranet users can invite suppliers, distributors, partners and others into workgroups and solve common problems without compromising the security of their internal communication. Extranet greatly enhances speed, confidentiality, and transparency in collaboration. This edition has a number of very important functional and technical elements which were in line with Hyundai's desires for an intranet portal:
Hyundai's improved communications and workflows
Hyundai’s Corporate Portal now offers a simple and convenient way of delivering notifications to the company's employees and updating them on the company’s latest news and events online. The usual way of sending newsletters and messages via email was always an additional load on the mailing agents and was largely useless when one tried to restore of find recent information.
Smart collaboration options
Collaboration on projects and tasks related to secondary (administrative) business processes are now achieved online on the Corporate Portal. Common business processes of Hyundai have been implemented effectively for quite a long time, however, there were a number of secondary business processes that included routine administrative tasks which were unregimented. These tasks required instant collaborative decisions involving different responsible persons. The standard ways of accessing information on network drives lacked flexibility because of limited technical capabilities (e.g. even the number of requests to the network drive files could not be traced and saved in a log). Now administrative tasks are made by employees via a number of services offered by Bitrix Intranet Portal: WebDav, Tasks, HelpDesk, etc.
Business processes automation
A number of crucial internal business processes have been fully automated inside the Hyundai Corporate Portal. Specific tasks now can be modified; consequently, queries and requests from clients and dealers, for example, can be accepted, approved, denied, or set for further processing by the Hyundai staff directly on the corporate portal.
Corporate knowledge base for Hyundai's employees and dealers
Bitrix Intranet Portal allowed Hyundai's employees and partners to use extremely convenient ways of accumulating, organizing, and storing the knowledge of the company and its dealers. It is not a secret that the greatest value of any company is made up of its people and their knowledge. It was very important for Hyundai to properly gain and securely store all the collective knowledge and experience of its employees and dealers, and to be able to distribute and access this data easily. Now this is all done using Enterprise 2.0-style methods available in Bitrix Intranet Portal.
IT-infrastructure integration and product customization
The AD/LDAP integration was used, as well as integration with NTLM. The company's users were imported from a standard CSV and from AD/LDAP. A standard Bitrix Intranet Portal design template was used for the Hyundai's corporate portal with some minor changes to the layout and structural elements.
