    Bitrix Site Manager assumes that you create information block types using the New information block type form (Content -> Information blocks -> Information block types, click Add new type). Every new information block type is automatically added to the left menu of the administrative section for faster access:

    Context bar

    Button Description
    List Opens a list of all information blocks.
    Create Creates a new information block type in this form.
    Delete Deletes the currently edited information block type.

    Important!
    This will delete all existing information blocks of this type.

    Editing form

    All fields marked with a red asterisk (*) are required.

    "Main" tab

    This tab offers basic parameters of an information block type.

    Field Description
    ID The code uniquely identifying the information block type.
    Use tree view to classify section elements (contains sections) If checked, information blocks of this type will have a hierarchical structure which means they can be divided in sections and subsections. You can assign the preferred names of sections in the Sections field.

    You can use structuring to union products in logical groups, classify plants by genus, species etc.

    If the option is unchecked, the information blocks of this type will have a linear structure.
    Language-dependent names and object titles
    Field Description
    Language Languages installed and used in the system. You have to provide the section, element and type titles for each language.
    Name The name of an information block type for the respective language (e.g. Catalog).
    Sections The name of information block sections (e.g. Groups).
    Elements The name of information block elements (e.g. Products).
    "Additional" tab
    Field Description
    Use RSS export If checked, the information blocks may be exported to an RSS file stored in a directory specified in the Path to exported RSS files field of the module settings form.
    Sorting index The sort weight defining the position of information blocks of this type in lists. The less is the value, the higher the blocks are positioned in lists.
    Save operation handler The full path name of the script (handler) called when saving an information block. The handler is responsible for pre-processing the information block element fields and can be used to alter data before it is saved.

    File with element editing form The full path name of the script which is used to display the element editing user interface. Can be used to create custom editing forms.

    Controls

    Field Description
    Save Applies changes performed on this page and switches to the list of information block types.
    Apply Applies changes performed on this page without switching to the list of information block types.
    Cancel Cancels current changes and restores parameters to their original values.

    How to create a new information block type

    1. Open the New information block type form (Content -> Information blocks -> Information block types).
    2. Click Add new type.
    3. Specify the symbolic code of the new information block type in the ID field. This can be a set of arbitrary Roman letters meaningful to the administrator.
    4. If the new type is to contain sections to group the information block elements, enable the Use tree view to classify section elements option.
    5. Enter the information block type names for different languages.
    6. If the new type contains sections [4], specify the section name. For example, information block Catalog may consist of groups. Check the box Contains sections to activate sections for this type if needed.
    7. Specify the element names. For example, News for the News type, and Product for Catalog.
    8. Click Save.
    9. After the save, the new type will be available in the left menu.
