Performance: Analysis and Recommendations

The new version takes advantage of special tools to boost web project performance. These tools help evaluate the performance of the web server configuration and Bitrix Site Manager as well as web project development quality. In addition, the system performs run-time diagnostics and provides recommendations on how to improve performance.

The Performance Monitor analyzes the web project loading speed so you can estimate the appropriateness of the configuration in absolute values, compare it to the benchmarking data, analyze the overall system performance and detect weak points. The tool gives an immediate summary of critical properties which can indicate a possible problem area: an inadequate website CMS configuration, imperfect development or poor hosting services.



The new version introduces a convenient Performance Panel to compare your website analysis results with the results of the Bitrix benchmarking system. The Panel shows the most requested/heavy pages and gives configuration hints.

A typical Performance Monitor sequence: testing the hardware configuration for weak points affecting overall system performance; analyzing the Bitrix Site Manager platform parameters; comparing to the Bitrix benchmarking system. The sample values are obtained using Bitrix Virtual Appliance; recommendations for increased system performance; performing a web project integration quality assessment.

The Performance Monitor includes support for memcached. The system supports disk cache as well as memcached, APC, eAccelerator and Zend. The cache storage can be selected in the Performance Monitor settings.

The benchmarking data used by the Performance Monitor have been obtained using Bitrix Virtual Appliance developed by our engineers. You can test how fast your site is when run on the virtual appliance.

All the product editions include Performance Monitor.

SEO: System Adaptation and A New Module

Version 8.5 puts strong emphasis on search engine conformance. Duplicates, infinite loops and link iterations are eliminated. While the previous versions might have produced up to 50.000 unique pages when responding to search bot requests, the new version is much smarter, and will generate 800 to 1000 pages at most.

The new SEO module comes with a comprehensive user interface spotlighting the essential information for Search Engine Optimization purposes.



The SEO module functions allow website editors and system administrators to reduce time required to prepare the site content for indexation by search bots so they can focus on more creative tasks. Now your website is capable of providing the information in the appropriate format for search engines. This could usually be achieved only by running external applications. The SEO module will silently optimize the code without your assistance!

Media Library

Media Library is a fast and handy media manager. A set of ideal tools makes creating multilevel media collections a real breeze! The collection contents can further be added to site pages or information blocks. Now, whenever you want to add an image to a page, news or a catalog item, just select it in the Media Library. It has never been easier!

Creating the media library structure

The library manager contains many features to make you feel comfortable while handling the media content. The Control Panel now shows a Media Library menu item for fast access to media management functions. Media Library is a part of the Site Explorer module.

Business Processes

The Business Processes module automates the company’s business processes. This module controls all stages of business process execution; in fact, it acts as an engine, or an execution environment for your business processes. Furthermore, the module has a visual business process builder.



The new Business Processes module is a flexible tool used in a number of elements that can handle virtually any data type existing on a site.

Visual Tools for creating and managing websites in the Public Section of Bitrix Site Manager

Now you can change the website structure directly from the Public Section and avoid switching to the Administrative Part in the Control Panel. Another new convenience is the Structure button allows you quick access to any part of the website available from the Dashboard. It makes the process of website content editing more intuitive and quicker.

The Structure Button

The new Structure dialog window is available to all user groups that have access permission for editing website root content. This window shows the whole website structure by default, i.e. all website sections that have a description and web pages that have a title. When selected, a submenu will automatically drop down for each item. In each website section you can add a page, configure the website section settings, change access permission settings, or remove the website section altogether. Website pages can be similarly edited as HTML or in the Visual Editor. You can add or change the title of a web page, change access permission settings, or remove it from the website section.

Drag’n’Drop option is also supported

The pop-up tips show you whether a website section or a website page has no keywords or lacks a description. If you choose the Show All Files mode, the dialog window will display all website sections without description and files of all types without titles. The Drag’n’Drop option is also supported.

Updates for Social Network, Blogs and Search Tool

There have been made a large number of improvements in the Social Network, Blogs and Search Tool modules. The blogs subscription list now has increased performance. Blogs that are used in a social network can be defined in composite component settings.



The Social Network Module now allows you to perform a search request according to access limitations assigned to specific user groups and user profiles. The Social Network elements are now indexed in a different way. When new information is entered or when the access settings are modified, indexing is performed automatically. But now full indexing can be performed not only in the Control Panel section, but directly from the Browse Section by simply clicking the Indexing button that will take you to the indexing page. The button is available to website administrators or to other user groups having appropriate access permission.

More Exciting Features

The new version of Bitrix Site Manager contains updates for more than a half of its modules, including:

• The Main module now has a new statistical metrics in the Public Section: Page Execution Time shows how long it takes to load a page in a browser. The way a menu item is selected has also been improved. Also, you can change styles of website templates in the Visual Editor directly from the Public Section, as well.
• The Proactive Protection is now stronger than ever: the Web Application Filter and the Redirect Protection against phishing attempts have been upgraded and improved; the Integrity Control Script has been updated.
• The e-Store module now allows you to create reports for sales and purchase orders. Sales dynamics can be graphically represented by using different parameters for building charts. The sales catalog and the administrative section of the interface used in Orders were improved. We have also introduced a new element, Customers Also Buy, that can be used with any or all items listed in your e-Store. Ordering an item in the e-Store is quicker and easier: now you can make a purchase without creating/registering a new user.
• The Update System for components created by Bitrix partners allows including and integrating new components and modules to the existing ones. Statistics will be available for these addable components and modules, as well.
• For developers, we have also included new tools for modifying extensions of API Information Blocks.

These new features and bug-fixes of previous versions are available, as usual, through the SiteUpdate System. All Bitrix, Inc. clients who have active Update and Tech Support subscriptions can update their Bitrix software products for free. Bitrix specialists and partners continuously work to adapt the interface of the Bitrix Site Manager system for users from all over the world. Using the Localization module, the system has already been translated into eight languages:

The available languages are downloaded through the SiteUpdate technology:

• Choose Settings / Update in the Control Panel;
• Click on the 'Review and download language files' link - you will see the list of available languages;
• Select the language you would like to download;
• Click 'Download'.
  

Add a new interface language. To do this, open the 'Languages' page in the Control Panel (Settings / System settings / Interface languages).

Bitrix Site Manager supports a multisite feature which is limited by the license policy. By default, two sites are included in the license; extra sites can be added with additional site licenses.

By purchasing one copy of Bitrix Site Manager, you obtain software with the full source code, a license key and the right to create two sites based on one product installation. There are NO LIMITATIONS on:

• the number of working places
• the number of registered users and user groups
• the number of domain names
• the amount of information posted on the site

Using one copy of the product, you can create two or more sites (if more than two, a supplemental license should be purchased) with a single, shared database of users, authorization system, and shared advertising spaces. For example, two-language versions of a site (English and German) are two sites based on one copy of the product. If you need to create another language version of the same site (e.g., French), you need to purchase an additional site license(-s).

By purchasing several copies of the product at a time, you are granted volume discounts based on the number of copies purchased.

Additional Site Licenses (Coupons)

If you need to create new sites apart from the two you already created with the first copy and license of the product, you must purchase additional site licenses. By purchasing several additional site at the same time, you are eligible for a volume discount.

Additional site licenses are made for those planning to create several sites or language versions of the same web project based on the same product installation. For example, by purchasing one copy of the product, you can create a site in both French and English. By purchasing two additional site licenses, you obtain the right to create two additional sites, for instance, in Russian and German.

A single copy of the product, with the appropriate number of additional site licenses, can be used to create an unlimited number of sites.

Updates and Support Renewal

A coupon for updates and support renewal grants users the right to receive updates for one copy of the product by using the SiteUpdate technology within 1 year following the year of purchasing the product. The number of sites based on the product does not matter. The commercial version of any Bitrix product includes a lifetime license and 1 year of free technical support and updates. You can always extend the period of technical support and subscription to update.

License Activation

All customers should activate and register their Bitrix Site Manager licenses within a 6-month period after the license purchase. If the license has not been activated during that period it is activated automatically. In this case the update period starts from the moment of license activation.
