Bitrix Site Manager is developed in PHP; it can be effectively run on any UNIX or Windows platform.

The commercial versions of the product are shipped with the full source code.

* All software packages required by Bitrix Site Manager are available on vendor websites for free (except commercial versions of Oracle and MSSQL) and are also included in the Bitrix Environment package.

Software

PHP 4.3.9 and higher. We recommend using the latest stable release of PHP.
The following PHP extensions are required:
- GD – image handling library;
- PHP XML – used by the update system;
- FreeType – required for CAPTCHA;
- Regular Expressions support;
- Zlib compression – required to decrease the amount of transferred data;
PHP enabled web server:
- Apache (recommended) 1.3.X and higher. The system also runs successfully on Apache 2.X;
- MS IIS 5.0 or 6.0. PHP should be installed as ISAPI.
Database server support. One of the following database engines can be used on your site:
- MySQL version 4.1.11 and higher is recommended. To work with MySQL properly, the system requires the MySQL support for PHP to be installed;
- Oracle 10g (for product editions supporting Oracle DB) can be used. To fully support Oracle, the php_oci8.dll extension of PHP should be installed;
- MSSQL 2000 and higher (for product editions supporting MSSQL) can also be used. ODBS support should be provided to be able to install this database.
Zend Optimizer 3.0 or higher. Note that Zend Optimizer is needed only for installing the trial version of Bitrix Site Manager. The commercial version of Bitrix Site Manager is supplied with the full source code and there is no need to have Zend Optimizer installed.

Memory limit

Please note! One of the critical PHP parameters that Bitrix Site Manager requires for proper functioning is memory_limit = 32M. This is the minimum amount of PHP memory required by the system core.
This parameter can be changed:

by editing the file php.ini directly;
from within a script by calling ini_set("memory_limit", "64M");
This call is added to /bitrix/php_interface/dbconn.php at the installation time using the user-supplied value;
in the file .htaccess using the directive: php_value memory_limit 64M.

Browsers

All the site management tasks can be performed through the web-interface of any Internet browser (except when working with the HTML editor component, which requires Internet Explorer 5.5 and higher or Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or higher). Bitrix Site Manager supports the following standards:

HTML/XHTML – the system places no restrictions on templates developed with HTML/XHTML;
JavaScript – the system unconditionally supports the use of JavaScript in the site templates, menus and pages;
AJAX – this technology is widely used in the Control Panel to speed up the system response and decrease server-to-client data traffic. The system places no restrictions on using AJAX in the public section;
CSS can be used in the in site template design, public components, etc. The Control Panel features the use of visual themes: users can create their own visual themes through customized cascading styles.
Flash technology support is limited. You can use it as a part of the site template design, as advertising banners, or as user input controls deliberately designed to interact with the system.
RSS (versions 0.92 or 2.0) is used to exchange information between the Information Blocks and Blogs modules.
CSV standard is used to exchange information between the Information Blocks module and other systems.

Databases

Bitrix Site Manager for MySQL
This is the most popular database among users and it satisfies needs of the clients. It provides complete functionality, allows for increased productivity, and requires the least amount of deployment and hosting costs– all this at an optimal price.

To host a site based on this solution, any Unix host with PHP and MySQL can be used.

Bitrix Site Manager for Oracle
An Oracle version of the Product has been developed for building sites and business Web-applications that require the highest level of security and scalability. This version provides a perfect foundation for creating Web-based applications, CRM systems, and systems for managing partner relationships.

Bitrix Site Manager for Microsoft SQL Server
MSSQL version is a suitable solution for large companies, corporate portals and popular Internet resources. This version provides a perfect foundation for creating Web-based applications, CRM systems, and systems for managing partner relationships.

MS SQL Server is a full-featured data management and analysis solution aimed to provide the framework to create scalable e-commerce solutions, business applications and data storages. It empowers developers with the cutting-edge tools that make product deployment faster while ensuring its scalability. Bitrix Site Manager MSSQL editions support the well-known MS SQL Server 2000, and MS SQL Server 2005 (including Express Edition).
