You would think that to make an Intranet document library available to Extranet users would be as simple as changing the access permissions of the Information Block. Unfortunately it takes more than that.
Basically, because Extranet is considered a somewhat separate site, you have to create a section in the Extranet that will give you access to the documents. So you'll end up with two sections: one the Intranet and one on the Extranet. They point to the same Information Block, so the documents are the same.
- Change the access rights for the Information Block to include Extranet users.
- Change the "Sites" setting for the Information Block to include both the Intranet and Extranet sites.
- Create a section in the Extranet site.
- Add a Document Management component, selecting your desired IB.
- Make sure that in the component properties that "Enable SEF (Search Engine Friendly Urls) support:" is checked.
- You'll have to create two menu items, one on the Intranet site and another on the Extranet site.
(tip: if you use the section creation wizard -> from template -> Document Library, things work pretty easily)
